Mek ( Marantz Electronics Ltd), has installed an iSpector AOI system within PKC Group in Finland. In association with Mek partner, SMT House, the manufacturer recently commissioned an iSpector HDL350 at its Raahe site in Finland.
PKC designs and manufactures electrical distribution systems, wire & cables, wiring components and electronics predominantly for the commercial vehicle, automotive and electronics industries. With 19,759 employees globally the Group’s net sales amounted to EUR 928.2 million in 2012. The Electronics division, headquartered in Raahe, offers flexible prototype and customised low volume, high mix production services.
Fundamental to their latest selection of AOI equipment was the ease and speed of programming. Following benchmark trials with multiple suppliers to acquire comparable performance data PKC selected Mek iSpector for flexibility and price as well as the programming. The proximity of a local Finnish speaking distributor, SMT House, offering full technical sales support was also a major factor in the purchasing decision.
Mek’s iSpector series also includes the world’s first desktop AOI system to offer one top camera and eight side cameras in 45/45 degree configuration. Solder joints of increasingly popular 45 degree space-saving circuitry designs can now be inspected with 10µm resolution side cameras. Combining simultaneous 9 camera inspection, true 24-bit colour imaging technology and 3D Solder Meniscus profiling, these systems deliver advanced AOI performance with either manual or fully automated PCB handling.
